2023 Rosé
85% Grenache Noir, 15% Mourvedre
Over the years we have established UNTI as California's Grand Crú Rosé. Since 2015, winemaker Jason Valenti has taken our Rosé to a new level by selecting our most appropriate vineyard blocks and applying more precision to our winemaking. The result is a streak of our most successful rosés' since 2018.
Our estate grown, orgnically farmed Grenache and Mourvèdre vines are now over 25 years-old, which lends depth and complexity to a our Rosé. The cool 2023 growing season enhanced aromas and racy acidity, making this a wine that is particularly reminscent of Bandol, the best Rosé in Provence. Grenache and Mourvèdre make a rosé that compliments a wider variety of food than rosés made from Pinot Noir or Zinfandel.
Our cool night time temperatures allow us to harvest Grenache and Mourvèdre with expressive flavors, about two to three weeks earlier than we do for our reds. As such, we never ferment or age our Rosé in oak, and we prevent the wine from going through malo-lactic fermentation. This serious style Rosé is great for the summer, but might even be better in the fall.
